This is my first time making a serious website, and I’m grateful that my friend Chad(chadpayne.ca) was willing to help me out so that I didn’t have to struggle through this process. I think I’ve used apple’s page builder a few times, but as for a website that I will try and maintain? Not a chance. There are numerous excuses reasons for this–one of which is my snobbiness towards web development as being monkey work–but the route cause is probably laziness.
Anyways, I’m a graduate student at the University of Calgary, doing my Master’s in Computational Media Design, under the supervision of Faramarz Samavati and Sheelagh Carpendale. I am a part of the graphics jungle (jungle.cpsc.ucalgary.ca) and the Innovis group (innovis.cpsc.ucalgary.ca). I graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Computer Graphics, and a minor in Pure Math. I worked in industry between May and December, working on Scientific Visualization projects, which drained me of my life and soul. Jobs, apparently, are not fun. I found it was nice to make money like a grown up, but nothing else was very satisfying. So I decided to return to the academia and hide from the real world for a couple of years. I’ll let you know in a couple of years if this was a good idea or not.
I have numerous interests outside of work, but I don’t really feel like listing them at this particular moment. Hopefully I will update with media posts enough that people can see things that interest me.
